Do we need both the [children] and [kids] tags?

Good idea - I can't think of a situation where one tag would apply and the other would not. I'll wait for a day or two before doing, in case someone has other thoughts/comments. This has been ...

Consider removing the chain-tool tag?

chain-tool is not an actual tag, it is a synonym for chainbreaker. Now, it appears that there are no questions tagged chainbreaker either, which suggests that the synonym should either be deleted or ...

Indexing Tag, Do we need one?

Dunno - I would see indexing as being a subset of the existing gears tag. I mean, can you think of any question about indexing that is not about gears/gearing? Perhaps adding synonym from, indexing ...

Would it make sense to have an [outdated] tag?

Would it make sense to have an [outdated] tag?

I definitely get the idea. However: It require a lot of tending of older questions to be useful. Just having a tag would not be a very conspicuous identifier. There be a lot of subjectivity.

The [advice] tag seems like a meta tag

Good point - most everything we answer is advice. Looking through the list of questions bearing this tag, it adds nothing. I would delete the tag, but will wait a week for other comments.

Delete tag "mechanical"

In almost all cases there's a more specific tag -- either a part like gears or brakes, or a process like repair or maintenance. A mechanical tag adds nothing that couldn't be better handled by one or ...

Do we need a Clydesdale/Athena tag

Is there any synonym that's not pejorative, but likely to be more widely understood than "clydesdale" and "athena"? I'm happy to set up synonyms (and merge tags around), but I'd prefer to have the ...

Tag merge? [accident] and [crash]

I think they're used to mean the same thing. Any question tagged "accidents" could also be tagged "crash". The tags should be merged and a synonym set up. Cycling advocacy always avoids the word "...

Ordinary should be made a synonym of penny farthing or vice verse

Try tagging something with a synonom ("ordinary" in this case) and the SE backend will put in the root synonom tag. Note its not a bidirectional link. Can't post images in a comment, sorry ...

Merge on meta: [tags] and [tagging]

On main Meta, "tagging" is a synonym of "tags." I suggest that we follow suit because there is no apparent value in being inconsistent.

Consider synonymizing [new-rider], [beginner], and [newbie]

Can do - which is the more "base" word here? I'd guess that beginner --> new-rider but it could equally go the other way around. I'd especially value input from people for whom English ...

Perhaps heavy and athena should be synonoms of clydesdale ? Sounds like a perfect use of synonoms.
